Snake awake a lot during the day

It seems like my bp comes out a lot during the day. Is this normal? He is active at night as well but it seems he is active quite a bit during the day.

How are your temps? I've noticed that my snake will come out durring the day if her cool hide gets above 83. She will come out and hang out in a corner where its still 80 degrees.

90-95 in the basking spot, and 77-83 or so on the cool side. In the corner of the cool side it is about 77 and a few inches forward where ther hide is it is about 80 and the temp builds as you move along. It's a pretty standard heat gradient type of thing I guess.

hmmm, I'm as newbie as it gets, but I'd start with checking the accuracy of her thermometers. Your temps are a little off but not bad.

Has your snake ate recently? Doesn't seem to matter when mine eats, she will spend the next few hors slithering around hunting I would bet.

Yes she has eaten a few days ago.

Explain how my temps are off a bit.

Everything I've been told says cool should be 80-82 and warm should be 90-92. Maybe I'm wrong xD wouldn't be the first time.

Like I Said originally though, what kind of thermometer are you using? are you sure they are correct? That would be my first guess, of course theres probobly a much simpler answer that has elluded me in my attempt to help and I've just caused more problems. Again wouldn't be the first time

Re: Snake awake a lot during the day

You might try decreasing the hot-end temps a few degrees...but I don't think they're necessarily "wrong"...just that if you think your snake is behaving weirdly, try tweaking the environment a tiny bit, then give it a week or two and see if the behavior changes back to what you expect.

That being said...other things can cause a snake to cruise a lot during the day:
    -- being hungry
    -- new to your home
    -- new enclosure
    -- changes to existing enclosure
-- change in location of existing enclosure
    -- too much light exposure
-- and numerous other little things

And sometimes, they just cruise for no discernible reason. After a few days or even a week or two of odd cruising, they usually settle back down into a more expected routine.

((This is all opinion based on personal observation of my own few animals))
