As for the crock bowls, I've heard that lead is still used in these types of bowls. This is the main reason I don't use them, plus I can't put then into the dishwasher. The reason I use the SS bowl, is the ease of cleaning. and I like the look of SS. I like being able to put my water bowls in the dishwasher and use the highest temp setting to super-clean the bowls. I'm not saying I'm right and you're wrong, these are just my preference.

But for the glass stuff listed by the OP, I too would have a problem with cleaning the little nooks. I wonder how sharp some of the patterns would be? I've seen some of the cast glass that have some sharp edges. I guess if you're looking at them in the store, you can determine if the glass has any sharp edges. I do believe these would work just as well as a crock or SS bowl. That's what's nice about herping, as long as it's safe, it's mostly a personal preference as to what you can use.

Your girl who can tip things over....I don't know how you have her habitat, but if it is something other than a tub. A decorative one with substrait and rocks and all sorts of neat stuff........Like Alexander has.........you could make a build up around the bowl so she couldn't tip it over. She could lay her head all over the place then.

You do know the ones who give you the most trouble are just trying to get your attention....and they are well worth the extra bother.
