Yea, she is a little dumb when it comes to animals. Of course, I will be watching this store very closely now. If it gets any worse, I will probably take my business elsewhere. It is usually a good store (reptiles have fresh bedding and water and heat) but sometimes people there give horrible advice and don't know a lot about their animals. Here are a few...
1. I asked a girl there about whether the puppies they sold came spayed or neutered and she said "Oh no. You don't spay a female dog until she goes through her first heat and males shouldn't be neutered until they are 6 months old." ----I am pretty sure you can get they fixed A LOT sooner than that! 3-4 months old is a good age.
2. A guy who has apparently been breeding rats for a long time recommended a brand of cat food to my sister who wanted to begin breeding for feeders. It was 50% protein!!!!! He also told her the rat she was purchasing was half dumbo and you could tell because of the ears and how soft the fur was.
3. The lady telling me a kenyan sand boa laid eggs.....
4. There was a baby ferret in there this week who was WAY TOO YOUNG to be up for sale in a store. I'm guessing he was around 5-6 weeks old, skinny, lethargic, and sick! Poor little guy. That was the first time I have EVER seen a ferret in such bad shape there. I'm thinking of stopping by tomorrow after work to see if he's still there and if he is, I'm going to talk with the manager.
