Automatic watering system
I was wondering where every one got there drinking valves for rat breeding. Also what kind of bucket do you use for your reservoir? Id like to find the valves where I can pick em up so I dont have to pay $10 shipping on $30 worth of valves.

I had seen that but for 15 small valves it shows shipping as 9.64. I just have trouble payn that much for what would fit into a flat rate envalope ya know

agselect is the cheapest....
if you call they number they provide with their order, it sends you directly to Edstrom. The Operator stated that Edstrom and agselect are the same company

They also have a water pressure regulator that is a great labor saving device!
*I found it simpler to install another pipe from the outside faucet and install a faucet inside the rat "room" and, now, instead of pails the regulator does a fine job of regulating water and it's always fresh.
In the beginning there were a few "accidents" as I worked with the regulator, loose sippers, and rats causing floods, but with more careful attention, and a new generation that seems to know better than to put anything in the sippers, it's become quite easy to regulate the water and not having to worry about the water level in the pails is less stressful.
Once a week, cleaning, check the sippers to make sure water is still flowing and it's good till next check (can check more often).
"Price has very little to do with QUALITY. Quality stands on its own merit and doesn't need a hefty price tag to prove its worth."

Re: Automatic watering system
Yep, reptile basics is your best bet, and yes the shipping is outrageous. I'm not sure what it is, but it seems that every reptile website charges a minimum of $12 shipping even though it doesn't cost near that much to ship it. It really bugs me now with those flat rate boxes that are $4..... But that's how it is. I paid $12 shipping on 9 feet of flexwatt, a whopping .3 pounds and the box was the size of a pop can
Unless you live in NC you're out of luck.
Oh, and I use a plastic sweater sized tub for my water bucket. It's a lot easier to cut through than a 5 gallon bucket.
