I would agree with the tablet, but not smartphones. With the new winows phone 7, (as dumb as that sounds) the integrated media players on the iphone (clearly the ipod) and the windows phone 7 (zune) kill any media player on android. I have had an HTC dream which I traded for an iphone and hated it quite a bit.

If you want touch screen, iphone/touch is the way to go. Apple has that down with the multi-touch etc. With the iphone os 4.0 coming in June, (which includes multitasking), android won't be going far IMO.

The iPad, as much as I hate to admit it, looks very nice for someone who reads books and travels a lot. I am debating getting one, just not completely sold on it yet, need to see a bit more.

All biased opinions, but I think people should check out the new iphone OS.

Oh believe me there's a Windows Phone 7 device coming home with me on launch day. It won't have the mass appeal that Android does because it's not as open. The dev teams will probably help with that though. Zune HD is the nicest music player around IMO. I'm excited that it's built in to WP7.

With yea on the windows phone 7 I think.. I've had an iphone for 2 years now and I'm looking for a change!

Haven't tried the zune players yet but I'm interested in them, especially with the new ones just released. Microsoft is competing well with Apple and I feel it's in a good way. People say it's too late, but I don't think it is personally.

Re: So who got an iPad?

My husband and I bought one on opening day and we will most definitely be buying a second one. We LOVE it!!

We travel a lot and it's great for that. We can put tons of books, movies, and games on it. The battery life on it is amazing. I'm also a dog trainer and I tend to carry around a lot of paper work and books. I was able to put them all on the Ipad and consolidate all my stuff. Which has been awesome.

I have always preferred a Mac. I use a Windows lap top for my contract work and I hate it. We have always liked the way Apple simplifies things and how their user interface is always nice. That and my hubby is a Mac dev.

But anyways, we love ours to death. It's been great for us and we're very pleased with our new baby.

Edit: And for those who are worried about not being able to use flash... Most web sites are using the new HTML 5 video element. The only web site that uses flash video that I haven't been able to use on the Ipad is Hulu.com. Apple tends not to support flash do to the poor performance.

My BF wants something like the iPad, but doesn't want to support Apple. He's a google guy He says he's waiting til theres more on the market to choose from. I would love one though. We tend to travel a bit, but not a lot. So it would come in use.

I am curious about it but I do not see my self getting one, unless the price is right or I begin to have more spending money. Flash is the biggest

I am looking at the Android though....
Google Blackra1n by Geohot. I have my phone jail broken and love it. I have AT&T because that is who I have always had so I don't use it to change the carrier (which you can do) but I do use it to customize every aspect of my phone. I can use it as a 3G WiFi hotspot tethered with up to 5 laptops, I am posting through a connection on my iPhone right now. I love the iPhone 3Gs and do not see myself getting anything else anytime in the future.
