With the rules about scholarship students and athletes being required to live on campus that wouldn't really be an option but we're both transferring out so that will solve the problem.

A health hazard.. Are you joking me?
That's stupid.
I wouldn't even listen to them. If you keep your hands and area sanitized and disinfected then there is no health hazard.

If the school keeps on, would it be possible for you to get people to sign a petition saying that your snakes aren't a hazard and aren't aggressive? I mean, it's the last 4 weeks, that's ridiculous. Like others said, I'd personally ignore it and fight them every time they said something. Just goes to show that the general public is so undereducated about snakes

Re: They're trying to kick our snakes out of the dorm!
I have had tarantulas for over 4 years, and I have been around Ball Pythons for a couple years. I have never been bitten or striked at by either one.
I have been bitten by dogs, or stung by bees more times than I have been harmed by tarantulas or Ball Pythons.
So funny how people think exotic animals are so dangerous and such health hazards. Dogs can go around getting loose biting the crap out of people but you don't see them trying to put a ban on dogs or anything.
Take a minute and just think about how dumb some people are....

How bout breeding? Even though they would have no clue you are attempting to do this. If it doesnt go your way, I would ask them to let you go to the end of the year, explain cost, animal well being, etc and you should be fine. Now I am on your side with this, but imo I think you are approaching a line that would be tough to argue all aspects of right and wrong.
What I mean is this, as an owner myself I have one rule I try to follow. Respect feelings of those around me. Since my reptiles are in my home it is easy to do, if you dont like snakes, dont go downstairs lol. In this case living in a dorm and the amount of snakes you have, I think you may at times be walking the line of respecting the feelings of others. I am sure you will say others have no issues with them being there etc., but that is the line....I know if I didnt like snakes, and I have raised feeders, that smell may be a stretch for someone in the dorm , along with those who may have a phobia of snakes.
Does this make sense? Again I am on your side, but that amount may be a stretch to expect the college to accept. Either way I am sure there will be a limit set by them in the future, or possibly added reptiles to the list so they dont have this issue again.

Re: They're trying to kick our snakes out of the dorm!
It's possible that they will claim the health hazard isn't the snakes themselves, but all the heating elements and electrical plugs. When I lived in dorms (a VERY long time ago ) they were older buildings and concern about overloading the circuits with too many small appliances was a very real one. We weren't allowed to have a microwave or blenders or coffee makers or anything with a heating element in it...at the risk of overloading circuits OR burning down the building with a coffee pot that was left on.

Maybe you guys can get a rent house and move in together. Even if you aren't dating, you guys are probably compatible roommates. Just an idea.
