    Re: Live Plants

I have live plants which are in pots and pot liners decorated with coconut stuff the pots keep the water with the plants and off my snake and are easier to clean. They are planted in sterile plant soil. I just switch them out when she trashes them too badly. Ferns look nice and offer nice cover.

The list I copied is much more reptile specific and doesn't cover the large amount of plants on the list linked earlier in the thread.

I say if it is on the toxic list, avoid it. There are many great looking safe plants that you can use that are very widely available.

A lot on the toxic list naturally grow is the same general area, I'm not saying knowingly use toxic plants that are truly harmful to the snake, no one likes playing with fire of course, but I really don't see the problem if it's not an exposed toxin if it's sap, nectar, or pollen.
We're not feeding an iguana, we're having something to look at in a tank.

    Re: Live Plants

We adopted a fern today. It's in a pot and has some really great cover to it. We gave it to Lucy as a house warming gift, since we haven't had her very long. She hasn't voiced an objection yet, so we'll see how it goes

Thank you guys again so much for the info, we really appreciate it and we are so happy to be a part of this great site!

    Re: Live Plants

    Hello Everyone!
I am new to the page and a new Ball Python momma.
I would LOVE to do Live plants, but I have a few questions to make sure I am doing everything correctly
What is the best type of " Bedding"
    best and strongest plants
    where to get them
how to place them ( assuming Pots?) and keep them sturdy.
Lastly, If they didnt have real plants in the pet store it wont effect her right?

    Thank you!
