DIY snake racks

I was just wondering, when you guys build your own snake racks, do you keep the lids on your tubs or go lidless. I see some people do lidless by putting a piece of whiteboard or something on the bottom of each shelf to keep the snake from sneaking through any holes. Or do some of you just keep them in the shelves with the lids on?

It is really which ever one you prefer. Goin lidless makes it easier in that you can open the tub about half way to get to your snake instead of having to take the whole tub out to open the lid and get to your snake. I use lidless for that reason. Hope that helped.

I think almost everyone has lidless racks. I don't even think the professionally made racks ever come with lids. Check out animal plastics and boaphile racks to get an idea of how they do it.

Basically, each shelf is just tall enough to accommodate the tub and a 1/8"-1/4" air gap. It would be a major pain in the butt to take out each tub and take off the lid every time I needed to get in the enclosure.

i agree with everyone, topless is the way to go.
