In my opinion, you really need more female Axanthics or het Axanthics before you even start with looking at double Albino/Axanthic hets. Remember that VPI, TSK and Joliff Axanthics are incompatible so you need to make sure they're all the same line.
I'd also sell the het Axanthic male too, why would you use him when you have a Pastel het and a Spider het?
Finally, it's really worth investing in some visuals as with het x het pairings, the best you're going to end up with are 66% possible hets which aren't worth much more than a non het animal.
This is just my opinion but I've recently invested in some VPI 09 Axanthics with the aim of producing some co-dom hets (hopefully BumbleBee and Pewter plus Spider, Cinny, Pinstripe and Pastel) next season from my male and then breed the resulting male het babies to the female Axanthics in 2011/12 so I appreciate where you're coming from.
Good luck
Chris

Re: What to add to my collection???
I dont understand these threads.
Why are you breeding if you dont know what you want to make?
I think that might have come out wrong, but I mean it more like if you're a hobbyist, then you are working on a project. Why can't you figure out your own project?
It's almost like you're asking us what kind of model kit you should buy next; car, plane or ship.
If you dont know what you like, how should we?
Do whatever makes you happy. And listen to the above poster, be careful buying your axanthics and het axanthics before you end up with a whole bunch of possible double hets axanthics, as they are not all compatible.

Re: What to add to my collection???
Im a long ways off from breeding! And my intent was not to get people to tell me what i should like. I know what i like as i stated im a huge fan of axanthics and axanthic combos. I was merely trying to figure out what kind of things were out there that i could mix in with what i have now, in which case i could make a decision. I assumed a forum was to help advise the ill informed, in my case this would be what combos are out there that can be tossed in with axanthics. I wasnt trying to get someone to pick out my project for me just trying to see what options were out there for me to choose my own. Like i said im a long ways off from breeding, i just created this thread to do some research on possiblities. Sorry if i have offended you or wasted your time in anyway, not everyone has the extensive knowledge that you seem to portray.
Oh and thank you for throwing the types of Axanthics out there. My axanthics and het axanthics are all SK and i realize they are not compatible with the other types. But thank you all the same!

Re: What to add to my collection???
Just wondering...why are they not compatible?
And just for a little more understanding, compatible means that when paired, the two would produce a different morph than the parents are?

Re: What to add to my collection???
Hi,
In this case I think compatible can be defined as producing a visually distinct animal with only one gene from each line. Thats not really a correct explanation though - just the simplest way of thinking about it I can come up with.
If the OP has a VPI line axanthic het and buys another het axanthic that turns out to be from the snake keeper line then breeding them together will never give him a visually axanthic animal but instead give him a clutch of "33% possible double hets".
Breeding the possible double hets together could give him visuals of both types of axanthic, an animal what visually expressed both lines of axanthic (not sure how that would look ) and normal looking animals.
Genetically the normals would be "possible double hets", the single line visuals would be poss hets for the other line and the only animal whos genetics wouldn't be in doubt without further breeding would be the double homozygous dual line animal. ( I tried to work out the percentages but had a brain fart so gave up ).
Er... I think.
It could take him 6 - 10 years or more to feel confident that he knew the genetics of each animal from the first and second clutches. And even then he might never be certain.
This is why everyone is stressing the problem with buying anything aside from a visual axanthic to pair with his original het axanthic - if he did end uo with different lines then he could at least say the result of the breding was 100% het for the line the visual parent came from.
Now did that help or have I confused you as much as I have myself?

Reason: Realized I had percentages wrong - but can't think of the right ones
