How often should I handle my BP?

I have only been taking him/her out long enough to clean the tank (once every couple of weeks) The snake still seems pretty gentle. Is this enough handling?

you don't need to handle the snake at all. I think it would actually prefer to not be handled at all.

We bring ours out for around 30 minutes on days when they aren't eating, 48 hours after eating, or aren't going into shed. They really don't seem to mind it!

Re: How often should I handle my BP?

I think from what I have heard and read they'd prefer to never be handled.

Well sadly for them I like to handle. pretty much what others have said. If you don't want to you never have to. If you want to.

    1. Not During a Shed
    2. Wait 48 hours after every meal
    3. I personally would try not to do it the day before a meal either. As they are hungry and probably more likely to be in feeding mode. This is just my personal thought though and not a fact I have proven.

only time i handle mine is if im cleaning out a tub or showing someone a snake. Other than that i leave them be and they seem to like that better than being picked up all the time.

This one doesn't seem to mind handling at all. I'd rather not clean out the cage or change the watering bowl with the snake in there, hence, my taking him (her?) out once in awhile. I hope he stays gentle.

Re: How often should I handle my BP?

I've been getting mine out every day the last few days just cause its cool. she generally slithers around for a while but if she tries to go into something small and enclosed I'll put her back and let her relax in the tub.

Usually she goes for my shorts, I figure as long as she isnt trying to get away she is fine with being handled, but as soon as she gets antsy its time to go away, the first day it was like 5 minutes but yesterday she was out for 20 or so minutes with out a problem. It really is all about the snakes body language. This girl I know has a 3 foot male that seems just as happy in her lap as in his cage he'll sit there for hours but idk if that's just the snake or if its because she handles him so much.
