    Question about water bowl size....

I feel I may have purchased a water bowl for my baby ball python that is just a bit larger than necessary. I paid a little over $20 for the thing and it is a Marge Zoo Med Bowl similar (if not identical) to the one at http://www.snakeestate.com/reptile-s...ater-bowl.html .

I am highly cosnidering returning the bowl for a smaller one seeing as I doubt a bowl this large and expensize is really necessary for a baby BP of about 12-14 inches or so. Would this be ok? What size is usually reccommended?

Thanks a lot for any help!

I use small white crock bowls from Pier One for younger snakes. They are a buck each and easy to clean and hard to tip over. There's really nothing wrong with the bowl you bought I don't think, but you could always set it aside and use it when your bp get a bit bigger. If the bowl you have now is too deep then just don't fill it up all the way.

    Thank you for the response.

I know their is technically nothing wrong with the bowl I have, I just feel that with a 20 gallon tank and a relatively small snake I could get more bang for my buck. I mean if I could purchase a smaller one that would suffice just as much for $5 than i would much rather do that. I just want to make sure a small bowl is enough for the snake to drink/soak in.

    Thanks again for your help.

I use 3 inch crock style bowls from the dish section at wal-mart, Theyre like 1.50 or 2 bucks. It's not a must for them to soak.

I just got some 4" ceramic pet bowls for the Dollar Tree, a buck each! Never tips and I never see my snakes soaking in them. Thinking of getting some smaller bowls. $20.00 is a lot to pay for a water bowl!

right now im using a square tupperware sandwich container for my pastel cuz everything around here is pretty much sold. it works fine for now. anything that can hold water, wont tip easy, and keeps enough water to keep ur humidity up, and is easy to disinfect is fine

Large bowls are helpful if you want to kick up the humidity but $20 is ALOT of dough!

I go to the dollar store and get 20 bowls for that price

It's not bad if you only have like one snake in a viv and you want it to look nice. When you think in bulk terms then no way it's worth it.
