    My BP seems uncomfortable

Today, my BP ate its first f/t meal, except since he has eaten, he has yet to enter his hide. Unlike last week, when he ate a live rat pup, he swallowed and went right in to curl up an relax. I feel like since he ate a f/t, it is much more stiff inside of him (i think i can see it) and he has yet to really curl up or go to rest. Is this normal when feeding f/t or am I just being paranoid?

How did you thaw it out?

Did you feel it inside to make sure you thawed it out all the way?

    Re: My BP seems uncomfortable

I thawed it out by leaving it in a ziplock bag and on a window sill for about 2 hours, then ran it under hot water from the sink for a few mins, then put it in a tupperware container with really hot water from my water dispenser. I would say it was most def thawed out but everytime it started to cool (because i had to try twice to get him to eat it) the body would stiffen up again.

That doesn't sound right.. the body shouldn't get riggo anymore..

I would try to thaw it out in warm water for 40 minutes next time. No ziplock bag is needed really. See how that feels for him. I'm sure he'll be fine.

    Re: My BP seems uncomfortable

I typically leave mine in a small tupperware container of warm water for 3 hrs.

You can check by pressing the mouse and feeling the belly. If the belly is soft the mouse is thawed. Couldn't hurt to hit it with a hair dryer for 10 minutes either.

Well you guys say 3 hrs. I find that typically it thaws out alot faster then that. That is if you change wanter and put more hot water in after it cools down

Play it safe and leave it to defrost naturally in a zip bag in some room temp water over night

I totally agree. Ours does that sometimes, too. We even bumped up her food from a rat pup to a small rat, and she still does it. Not always, though. I don't think you have anything to worry about, but I would follow the others advice about thawing.
