Re: buying herpstat nd
I have one and you can connect three different heating sources into as long as their combined wattage doesn't exceed the wattage rating on the Herpstat ND of 600 watts. Herpstats have a proportional setting on them which will power the heating source to the set temperature by increasing or decreasing the power. Ranco stats are on/off which will achieve your set temperature by turning off or powering 100%.

To achieve the same temperatures, all of your enclosures will have to be exactly the same. Same size UTH's, same size tanks/tubs. Otherwise, you will get different readings on every set up.
If you're looking for a thermostat that can handle multiple different setups, I suggest the Herpstat II or Pro. The II can handle 2 different setups but the Pro can handle 4.

Re: buying herpstat nd
It's also a normal thermostat. The ND is just an add-on as far as I'm aware.

Yep, that's it. Another advantage to the ND over the regular Herpstat is that the ND has a resettable fuse that won't have to be replaced if it is overloaded.

Re: buying herpstat nd
I have 2 of the ND's that I use on my racks. You'll be fine. It's a proportional thermostat. The ND just has the extra Night Drop feature which can be used to drop the temps (you choose how many degrees) at a specific time or shut the heat off altogether.
You can plug a power strip into it if you need to power more heat sources. Just make sure the total wattage doesn't exceed that of the thermostat.
