Better to have loved than not at all. My situation is no fun, but yours is a different one and I wish you and your man the best outcome! Please also remember to take care of your needs, sleep, eat, exercise, rest, he needs you too.
Oh man that's awful Keep your hopes up, I know it's got to be hard! I've been so thankful to have the animals, especially horses. I ride with my family at least once a week, it's a life saver to be able to get away from it all, even for just an hour or two. I hope you have something joyful to lose yourself in.
I learned the hard way not to ignore my own need I ended up with an infection in one of my ovaries, it was god awful! That's the best piece of advice you could give any caregiver of sorts!
Good luck to you and never give up!

Re: Sitting in the surgical waiting room
Yay!!! He's out of surgery, it's been just over 4 hours. The doc said one of his lymph nodes was really big and may have cancer in it. If it does have cancer Blake will have 2 more rounds of chemo, which is 6 more weeks, 2 of those weeks being 5 days in a row 8 hours a day. I really don't want to tell him that part. He's going to be VERY upset.

Re: Sitting in the surgical waiting room
He's doing pretty well. He's hurting and feeling pretty sick. They have a tube down his nose and into his belly to suck everything out so he doesn't throw up. I want to throw up just thinking about it, and definitely when I look at him
His mom is really upsetting me, to put it nicely. She didn't want to take a day off of work to be here even though she gets 30 days of paid vacation a year. She did end up showing up to see him, but only for 20 minutes!!! She's pretty much worthless when it comes to being a mom. My mom has been here since 10am this morning and just left at 9pm. I'm thankful he at least has her to show him support and love. I could just pull out my hair right now.

Your boyfriend has a rough row to hoe. He is fortunate to have you at his side though his troubles.

If you constantly expect her to be the mom you feel she should be, you'll never be happy. You have to be happy for the love you have for this guy, be the person you are and be there for him. When you have kids, you'll be the mom your kids should have. Knowing that should get you to realize what's important.
Keep on being strong!

Thanks everyone! I thought we were done with this crap too! So far they are thinking the lymph nodes look/feel pretty normal, but we still have to wait for the test results, which should be on Tuesday. I would love a hug from you BPelizabeth And I would definitely love you picking up my Sunday shift!

You are so right, but it's sooooo hard to look past her ignorance as a mother. I try my best, but it still really gets to me. His whole family is like that though. None of his family has called to talk to him or ask about him, let alone come see him. Not even his brother or sister have drove the 20 minutes to come see him. I just don't get that family
