DON'T DO SHOTS!
There are alot of crazy shot combos out there, plenty which are new drinker traps. Plus you guzzle them so fast you never figure out what you like to drink. And trust me if you have a cement mixer your gonna puke.
I love craft beer. In bama we have a place that has over 20 on tap all week with probably a hundred more in bottles and a new beer every week on the cask. Places that sell alot of craft beer tend to be knowledgeable about it and can help you pic out stuff.

I also like a nice martini bar. My favorite is the French martini. Chambord Vodka and Pineapple juice. But the classic gin martini and the Manhattan are also pleasures. As is a nicely mixed Rob Roy. These bars are great because they have alot of fruity drinks that new drinkers can handle.
There is also a drink called the incredible hulk.
3 parts Hypnotiq liquer
1 part Hennesy.
It's actually pretty good but tart.
And there's nothing like a high quality margarita, on the rocks never frozen(Frozen has low grade tequila and ingrediants). If you can get them with fresh fruit and good tequila they will make you so happy.
Stick to liquers and beer mostly. And some Nice mixed drinks and you'll have a good time. Drink tasty drinks not just high alcohol ones. Because there's often enough alcohol in the tasty drinks.
Those who drink only for alcohol waste there money and never develop a true taste for all the richness and hard work that goes into fine booze.
My advice as a pro alchie. Your probably gonna puke tonight, everyone does when they turn 21. Keep a banana, and some gatorade at your home tonight. And have a greasy burger tomorrow. Pepto also helps.
