    over handling?

What are some physical signs of your B.P. getting over handled, like I know people will say they get "ancy" but thats very vague, like my B.P. donut is very comfortable with me, and there will be times were I'll have him around my neck for long periods of time, I'll either just zone out on the internet or doing H.W. and he just sits there and chills he doesnt seem to mind but I just wanna see what you guys gotta say about it

    Re: over handling?

When they get stressed it should be very noticable. They'll not stop moving, they won't flick their tongues for very long or at all, and they try to find a place to hide. It's not hard to spot, all their movements becomes jerky and they flinch from anything that moves.
Or, they roll up into a their namesake, a ball.

If your BP is just chillin', and is flicking his tongue often, and moving slowly, then he's probably fine. Just don't handle him more than two or three times a day, and not at all after he eats for two days and you should be fine.

    Re: over handling?

I would not consider (coiled around your neck) handling your bp. Thats more or less symbiosis (lol or handling eachother) if its happy with your temp and environment then in my opinion the clock isnt running and it is not stressful for the snake.

    Re: over handling?

I would limit it to a couple of hours a day, max, unless your home is 80F and 60% humidity. Spending a long time in dry conditions can cause chronic low-level dehydration (which is what causes bad sheds, and can cause respiratory issues). Low temperature air is also hard on the snake's lungs. Your body heat may keep it warm, and the snake may not feel too stressed, but those aren't the the only factors.

    Re: over handling?

I think it depends on the snake, and on who's doing the handling. Donut might not be so thrilled after 40 minutes of being juggled by three year-old kids, but you're not putting him through that. And he sounds like he'd be happy to hang out around your neck pretty much forever.

    Re: over handling?

Our BP's love being out around our necks for long periods of time. Or they'll hang around in our laps on our couch, or slither around while we put away laundry (always in sight of course and never by anything harmful). I think it depends on the snake and who is handling it, like the above comments said.
