Pinkies gone bad?
I just brought my first corn snake home yesterday. He's just a hatchling, about as big around as a pencil. I am a first time reptile owner, so please excuse any silly questions I might ask. I bought him at a reptile expo along with some frozen pinkie mice. The expo was a couple hours drive from my house and the pinkies were sold to me just in a plastic bag. They were thawed when I got them home (about 3.5hrs) and I put them straight into the freezer, but I'm paranoid that they might have gone bad in the time it took me to get them frozen again. Do you think they're still good? I don't mind getting more mice if there's a chance I could get my little guy sick!

Re: Pinkies gone bad?
Most people will not give their herps refrozen rodents. Id suggest buying in bulk so then throwing a few out wont really matter. But they may be just fine to give to your corn, but small mice thaw quick, which means there was more time for them to start to decay.
If you dont mind, throw them out and get some more. Why take the risk if its just a few feeders.

Re: Pinkies gone bad?
I don't think it would be too bad, unless they were thawed out during the night, but I have fed my snakes refrozen mice/rats before and they were fine. Though, since pinkies do thaw out rather quickly, it would be best to just be safe about it and buy some new pinks.

Re: Pinkies gone bad?
I'd have to agree with what most have already said. When it comes to feeders that small tossing them rather than refreezing would probably be a much better idea considering the smaller they are the faster they thaw and the faster decay can set in. I've refrozen medium rats with no discernible issues, and no fuss from the snakes. Of course re-freezing them more than once would probably be pushing it too far.
