Probably best to put the flexwatt on the outside of the cage and just have your thermostat like 2 to 4 degrees over your target temperature.
Make sure whatever you do you do have it hooked to a thermostat!
Oh and what are your tanks? Glass? Plastic? Wood? Rack System?
