    Looks like a Oklahoma Brown Tarantula, Aphonopelma hentzi to me. They are found in Oklahoma and northern Texas. I do not know if they are found in Cali or not though...

    Looks like the tarantula in the first pic on this link too. Aphonopelma spp. and since they are found in California it could be that?
