multiple B.P. same tank???

I have a 3 ft male Ball Python in his own cage 4 ft L 2 ft W 2 ft H i am buying a female 5 ft in length with another male 4 ft in length and a 55 gal aquarium from a friend. My question is, Is it alright to combine two of the snakes in one cage either male with female or male with male? until i get the cage built, shouldn't take but a week at most to build

As long as its very temporary, Most on here will say no, never, burn however. If its just a week it should be ok. They will each need their own cages though.Check out the care sheet on here it has what you need to know to start.

No. While some more experienced keepers can successfully keep multiple snakes in one enclosure, the pairings you are considering are not recommended. If you put a male in with a female, you have a chance of them breeding. All it takes is one lock and you might end up with eggs. Putting the two males together might cause them to combat each other.

General consensus says no. Due to a series of unfortunate events, my three males are currently together in a large tank. However, sides and top are covered and there are more than enough places to hide in. Haven't had a problem with feeding or stress yet, but they are all under a year. But this is temporary, and I'm currently building a rack for them. It can be done, but you have to be really careful. Make sure they're fed separately, and enough to keep them well satiated. And make sure the hides are big enough that they can all fit at the same time. I use longer, lower hides, so even if only one chooses to be in there, it still feels secure. I'd put the two males together, unless you're prepared for eggs.

Well, you're going to want to quarantine the new snakes away from your existing snake. If you house the male/female together, they could mate - not sure if you're interested in that yet or not.

Tubs are a more economical way of housing them temporarily, until you can provide the type of housing you want to.

thanks to all who gave me their advice. i received my other two B.P. and got their cages built. come to find out the people i got them from had kept both the male and female in the same aquarium for their entire life (5 yrs) my new question is would it cause them too much stress to separate them now kinda like splitting husband and wife .... or would it just not bother them a bit?

In 5 years did they ever mate? I'm wondering if you have 2 females? I would house them in 2 different enclosures. If one were to get sick, they would infect the other. If one escapes, both will. Unless you have a large UTH or other heat source, both snakes probably can't regulate their temps as best as they should. Feeding would require removing one snake while you feed the other. This alone could cause a lot of stress.

Just not a good plan if you ask me.

I also wonder if you have two females instead of a male and female. Either way, it is just good practice to house them separately. Too many things could go wrong with housing snakes together.

Also, snakes do not see each other as lovers. They are not "husband and wife" They have no emotional attachment to each other. If anything, they do not like the other's presence.

again thank you for your input ... previous owner said female did lay eggs for last 3 years ... but i will adhere to your advice and seperate them in the new cage ... again thank you
