Give him some time. BPs don't pick up picky feeding habits with age.However, younger ones shouldn't be fasting for any serious amount of time. If I were you I'd give your little guy another month or two (no handling, fill his enclosure to the top with crumpled newspaper for extra security) before looking into alternatives.
