    Troubled feeding after egg laying?

I got eggs two weeks ago and my female will not eat I have tried to feed her a couple of times. How can it take before she starts eating again? Any helpful pointers would be great.
    Thanks, Rob

females usually accept prey items of a much smaller size than they were previously eating before laying. so if she was eating large rats before, try feeding a rather small one.

Also make sure the tank/tub she layed the eggs in was cleaned very well. Any scent of the eggs can cause her to not eat as well. Also as usual make sure temp and humidity is good.

I've been trying smaller prey. Temp and humidity are good. I also gave her a new tub, bedding and clean water. I did not wash the snake with soap just used warm water.

You can also clean the top of her slot in the rack, like her roof Ralph davis has a video where he goes like all out cleaning after a female laid. Best of luck

It can take a little bit, dont trip out. I had a female that waited a month and a half. As long as you rinsed the tub, changed the bedding and gave her a quick soak, everything else is on her.

    Hope it helps.

First let me say I have no experience yet breeding...but I do read a ton of stuff.

I would say like the other person....make sure you really really clean the cage she laid in. Throw out the substrate...disenfect the hides water dish etc. and I might also add give her a bath. I would guess their is still a smell of the eggs or the laying in general and that is why she is not eating. I would also suggest from what I have read....start with something a little smaller then gradually get back up to normal.

Re: Troubled feeding after egg laying?

Most females will start eating after cleaning the cage, etc.; however, I have had a small percentage not feed regardless of how well I cleaned the cage. The interesting thing is that the few that didn't eat right away started eating after 55 days or so. I've had the same female do this twice. So try a few tricks but be patient and don't worry too much even though they can get pretty thin.
