Too much Provent A Mite
Hey, So we went a little crazy with the PAM, and the tank has a weird white and filmy residue on it, and also didn't have the substrate in, but added it later. We left the tank to air dry for about 26 hours. Is it safe to put the snake back in? Thanks. I know directions are on the can for a reason, but it would be nice if someone else had done this and knew the outcome.

To the forum.
You should be ok. The main thing with Provent-a-Mite is making sure it is dry and fume free before putting your snake and water bowl back in. As you have probably realized, a complete soaking is not necessary. Basically all you have to do is, if you have mites, a thorough misting will work. And if you are using it as a preventive treatment, then a light misting will be fine. It is also good if you spray some on a paper towel or cloth and wipe it around the top edges, ledges and around any vent holes of the enclosure. One can should last you a while. I treat two tubs once a month and a can usually lasts me around 4-5 months...

Re: Too much Provent A Mite
Along this same topic - If you have four separate RBI cages in the same room - do you need to remove the other snakes from their cages if you are cleaning/treating one cage with PAM - to avoid poisoning the snakes??
I usually clean and disinfect one cage at a time - reassemble it and put the snake back in and then move to the next one - but if I intend to treat with PAM as a preventative I worry about the fumes so I put each of my four snakes into small tubs and take them completely out of the room - is this the best way to do it??
Thanks

I do the same thing. I remove the snakes to another room and treat my tubs, then bring the snakes back in once everything has dried and aired out...
