I doubt the humidity will stay that high for very long. Take off the towel covering half the tank and a few hours should reveal a noticeable drop.
I know exactly what you are going through with the humidity, because I went through the exact same thing when I got my BP. Seriously, reading most of this post is like having a flashback! But let me pass on some advice that was given to me by my brother-in-law who owned a massive reptile collection: in the wild things happen... like rain.(Meaning: yes, we should strive to meet optimal requirements, but remember that they’ve existed in the wild for thousands of years, too!)
If you ever do use the oven to dry the substrate, make sure it is cool before replacing it.
You are doing a great job so far, and I think it is fantastic to see such a dedicated and committed owner. Keep it up!
PS: Many people will caution against putting anything sticky in the cage, especially tape. If they can get into it, they will.
