Here's an odd question
Does anyone else have their ears stretched?
Today was the first day mr snake let me hold him and he was crawling up my arm... once he caught scent of my ears he went predator and wouldn't let go of my ear, lol.
Or even people with regular gauged ears, does the smell make your snake hungry?

Re: Here's an odd question
Mine are not gaged any bigger than a 14 gage but I do know that a piercing of any gage can smell pretty funky if its not cleaned very well every day. Its just the skin oils being concentrated in an enclosed area. Like the how the folds of a chubby baby can be stinky and need to be cleaned all the time. (my tall skinny son was a roley poley baby lol)
I imagine it might smell tasty to a snake. Just wipe around your piercing with a gauze of rubbing alcohol before you handle him if you think it might become a habit.

What type of gauges? Air? Temp? Humidity?
I have/had my ears stretched. I've never noticed my snakes taking any interest in them.

Re: Here's an odd question
Mine are currently at 1 1/4" and no, my snakes have never taken an interest. But it really depends on just how strong the smell of your ears are. Certain materials of plugs will cause your ears to gather large amounts of sebum and be especially stinky if not washed at least once a day. I learned that lesson very quickly with how often I like to touch my ears and would come away with a slight smell on my fingers that totally grossed me out.
I'd say if they are taking an interest then you most likely need to clean them more often. If you touch your ears and come away with any smell on your fingers then they aren't being cleaned often enough. Even small amounts of the sebum can start to cause irritation and lead to infection that sets in very quickly, like over night quickly, and waking up with swollen painful lobes is not a happy thing

Re: Here's an odd question
My boyfriend has one ear gauged to 00, and I used to have mine gauged to like an 8. They've never taken any interested in them. That's too funny though!

Damn. Maybe I'll let him chew on them for a while. It wasn't even really a bite... it was more of a pulling on the plugs and trying to stick his tounge through the hole in the middle.
I've had my ears stretched for more than 4 years now, I get how to clean them. they're bone or glass, I always try to keep down the smelly wood and plastic ones
