Re: Xbox 360 vs PS3: What's the verdict NOW...
OP, I really wouldn't worry too much about the 3rr anymore. I can't speak for everyone but I've seen a lot less red ring problems than last year.
My 360 gave me the 3rr problem almost a year ago exactly and I fixed it myself. It's actually a pretty easy fix (and permanent) if you have a clue what you're doing. It takes just over an hour. I've fixed about 12 360s from friends and friends of friends and no one has come back to complain. Also, I saw what Microsoft did to "fix" people's 360s that experienced the problem and I can assure you that it was not a permanent fix. They simply added more heat syncs and that was not the underlying cause of the 3rr. Also, I would agree with the above posts and say DO NOT MOVE THE 360 WHILE IN USE OR WHILE IT IS STILL HOT AFTER POWER DOWN! This exacerbates the true problem with the potentially affected 3rr xboxs.
If your 360 craps out on you, send me a PM and if I'm in a good mood, I'll help ya out!

I havent read through all the posts but the ps3's or at least the first ones sometimes get the yellow light of death. Mine got it but i easily fixed it using a video on youtube. I left it on for a full week after fixing it to test it and its working fine.

So far...I am seeing good points on both systems. Right now, I've decided to go for the PS3 once things have settled down and all.
Thanks for the feedback guys
Awesome! You picked the system that seemed best for you and your playing style. That is what counts!

Re: Xbox 360 vs PS3: What's the verdict NOW...
It really comes down to 2 things:
1. Which titles exclusive to one platform or the other do you want to play?
2. Do you want it to be a Blu-ray player?
Both have their advantages and disadvantages. The Blu-ray thing isn't *only* beneficial for the ability to play movies. It also lets them put big games, like FFXIII, on one disc, as opposed to multiple DVDs on the 360. If you don't mind swapping discs, no big deal, but it's a point to be aware of, especially with large RPGs.
I personally went with the PS3 because I'm a Gran Turismo addict, and that's not going to be available for 360. Between that and the appeal of the blu-ray player, I was sold on the PS3.
Mountain bikes are for slow people, and reptiles are far better pets than cats & dogs!

Re: Xbox 360 vs PS3: What's the verdict NOW...
Why not get both? There both reasonably priced now. I own both and bought them around the same time I think I bought the xbox a week before the ps3. I bought the elite with the falcon chip and it has gotten red ring 3 times. I sent it in to microsoft and they repaired it but the last time they shipped it out ups damaged it and I had to send it back in but microsoft sent me a brand new elite. They also extended my warranty on it. Im not much of an online gamer. Ive tried to play online a few times but people take that crap way to seriously. After all it is just a video game. I can find better things to do with my time then be cussed out by an 11 year old for stealing a kill lol.
I have not had any problems at all with the ps3 and with it I didnt have to spend an extra 100 on a wireless adapter. And as far as people sayi8ng the graphics on the ps3 suck they must not of played god of war 3. That game alone should be enough reason to buy a ps3

Re: Xbox 360 vs PS3: What's the verdict NOW...
I hate when people come and bash one over the other, without having actually owned both. I myself have both, The xbox I put some sort of cooling unit on the back, so it has never over heated. The Ps3 is cool, but the xbox kills it with their games. So far the only two I have liked were Gow and MW2. I like that the PS3 has free online gaming, but it is not as appealing once I realized there was only one game I liked to play online. I had x-box live for a while but forgot to pay when mine ended.
Look at the games you want to play, and then choose the system, because in the end its not the name of the system that counts, its what you like to play.

Noooooooo I hate console wars!
I like both systems but I currently own a PS3. I like it, have no issues with it.
