I've never been successful at chasing catfish. The cats that we have in MN are a few types of bullheads, channel cats, and flathead cats. I still haven't hooked into my first flathead, and my biggest channel was maybe 3lbs tops. SC has some pretty great catting waters. MN does too, but I haven't figured out exactly where they are. Catfishermen here are a little tight-lipped, some even want to keep secret the fact that MN has good cat fishing.

Some year I'll get up to the red river. It's the #1 PREMIER channel kitty fishery. On a good day, you're constantly hooking up with fish in the upper teens and low 20s, with a real shot at a high 20s fish. They are big, they are fat, and they are strong.
Yeah, ohio does have some good places near like ... the ohio river. which is like 5 hours away and lake erie... but ive never caught cats there either. supposedly they are there...

I basically got into fishing for cat fishing... Well... got in as much as i have "into fishing" which isnt very far... I dont think ive caught anything on my rod I use now... Never. I have back in the day though... Then again its probably because i dont use good bait or something...

dang. Id love to catch anything lol let alot stuff in the 20s....

What do people on here fish for? Recreation, or do you eat 'em?
Or both!
