Re: Do you talk to your animals?

I talk to my snakes in french mostly, being that most of them were born in Quebec I consider them Quebecois.

The ones from the West I talk in English to.

(I remember things better if I say them out loud, so it is an instrumentive game. Helps me remember sheds, feeding schedules, etc.)

Either way all they hear is a whole bunch of nonsense and illiterate jabbering.

I reserve my baby voice for the rats, they are strategically placed so that I have to chat with them on the way out the door, unlike the snakes they actually respond, come up, flash their bellies, do the slide and side shimmy, and reach out for a rub and/or finger grab.

Rotters are just looking for treats!!!

My favorite is feeding day..."Get it, get it, oh! You missed! Try again...Oh good boy! You got your rat! Om nom nom! That's a good boy!" ::Cough:: yeah...I take out my love for cats and dogs on my lovely furless snake that can't even hear me...Maybe that's even more of a reason to do it! Less chance he'll think I'm crazy...and it's totally in a baby voice!

LOL feeding days are the worst! I spend most of it moaning to my big BP girl. "Honey, you know I love you and all, but you really need to EAT THE :cens0r: RAT!!"

I talk to my snakes frequently, really whenever I interact with them. Each one has several nick names that have come up over time. Normally I'm just saying how handsome, beautiful, etc. someone is. But sometimes I'll talk with them about my day and how things are going. lol. My boy friend thinks I'm weird, but I can't blame him.

Re: Do you talk to your animals?

I talk to my animals all the time. Actually, I probably talk to my animals more than I talk to people. Is this a bad thing?

With my reptiles I talk to them about how dirty they've made their tub, if they want a nice plump rat, or tell my pastel that he better not bite me. I talk to the rats, asking them if I can see their pretty babies, what kind of veggies do they want today, etc. Now, with the dog, cats, and ferrets. I talk to them like they are people, because well they are people to me. They are my children and when people ask me if I have kids, I say I have 9! (4 cats, 1 dog, 3 ferrets, and 1 bird). You will often hear me talking baby talk to my cat Ramman. He loves it! He is attached to my hip at all times unless I'm in the animal room.
    Under Construction.....

Re: Do you talk to your animals?

I'm guilty of this. I call my BP my baby, my fatty, and my pretty girl, all in a baby voice. I talk to her about how much weight she's gaining, or how she needs to shed, or anything in between. My Cali king, on the other hand, I just calmly tell not to bite me and to be a good girl... and after she sheds I tell her how pretty she is, of course.
I do the same thing with all of my pets except for the rodents, oddly enough. Hermit crabs make good conversational partners.
Just 0.1 normal BP, 1.0 mojave, 0.1 California King, 0.1 Saharan sand boa, ~20 hermit crabs, a Patriot crab, 5.0 rats, and a herd of mice and ASFs
