can i freeze a uneaten rat.
so i was feeding a pre-kill rat (not de-frosted rat). bam, she strike.. but after 30-mins she still havent eaten it yet. Now, i'm at work.. and im on the 12-hour shift.
Question, how long should i leave the rat with her? since im at work now, is 12-hours ok?
And if i leave it for 12-hours, can i freeze the rat? means, when i back home later, can i freeze the rat?
hope to see a reply in this 12-hour window..

I would say no. 12 hours is to long. Throw it away.

ok, so what is the maximum time for a dead rat to be safe for freezing.
i can ask my brother who is at home to freeze that rat.
i dont want to waste a good 80-gram rat..

I'm not sure. Bacteria grows fast. After 30 minutes at room temp bad things begin to grow in beef, so rat can't be much different.

When I fed F/T I did not refreeze. But then again....I am more on the paranoid side about things not being eaten right after they are thawed. Snake food and ppl food.

i usually just throw em away, but if u offer it and snake doesnt bite, then u can freeze as long as it isnt soggy or anything from sitting in water and hasnt been sitting out for, id say, 10 minutes
A room full of empty racks and thermostats that have been unplugged.

Re: can i freeze a uneaten rat.
I did this just last week. I'd say the rat was dead for at the MOST 45 mins, and I threw it in the freezer. This week, I offered the rat (thawed out), she didn't take it while I was dangling it on the tongs, so I just left in there, she ate it once I gave her privacy. It's been 48+ hours, and she's hasn't regurged. I would say the most time I'd go would be an hour.
