Calico Market Value
Does anyone know what the average market value for Calicos were last year, and what they are expected to be this year? I noticed that NERD has a few 09 males for 750.

Re: Calico Market Value
That's about right. Some charge more for high white, but you can produce high white's from a low white calico. Kinda like pieds.

Ya I agree with Briz, it all depends on the amount of white. But ya $750 for a male seems about right.

I don't want the males though. What do I expect to pay for a female? I guess about 100-200 more.?

Re: Calico Market Value
Calicos vary alot. The ones with more more white and orange will go for about a grand. Like the flora and fauna line. The bubblegum line etc.. Most of the others will end up looking like a normal with high white sides.
With calicos you get what you pay for. If you want quality I doubt the price for a good one is going to drop below $1000.00 this year.

I didn't realize there were different lines. What are they, and what are the traits of each?
Thanks,

Re: Calico Market Value
From what I have found out from the breeders who work with these lines there is a hidden gene associated with an apparently "normal" snake. There is a ball that looks to be normal but when bred to a run of the mill calico it produces the high white/high orange calicos. Many have ringers as well. They seem to hold their color better and produce brighter combos when put to other snakes such as bees or lesser mojo's.
I posted a thread on a conversation I had with one of these breeders. Let me see if I can find it.

My female calico is from the BG line but she is not actually a BG. She can still produce BG calicos though.

I agree, all the flora and faunas I have seen are nicer colored than other lines I have seen. Sugars as an example. That's why I am working with the flora line.
However with the way prices have been changing from year to year I think you will find high white Flora and fauna's for under $1000. I have seen some 09's around that already for high white.

Re: Calico Market Value
I really like how calicos are holding their value. I got a male last year for 900, and they are still around this price today. Pastel calicos were 3,000-3,500 last year and have dropped to around 2,500.
I have bred my calico male to my female Ivory and she is getting ready to ovulate any day. She has 5 folicles and so I am hoping for at least two Yellowbelly Calicos.
