Thermostat...
Okay - I know this has been asked again and again, but I can't for the life of me find an old thread on this. (I am bad at that sort of thing)
What do you guys recommend for a thermostat for a ball python set up that uses exclusively UTH? I have a bit of money to spend, but I am not looking for the "uranium pu-36 explosive space modulator" version. I want the thermostat that you think is the most reliable for the money.
Any suggestions?

Re: Thermostat...
For just controlling one UTH the Repti-Temp 500r will be just fine... But if you plan on expanding I really do suggest the Herpstat.

Re: Thermostat...
In my opinion, the Repti-Temp 500r is only a good choice if you're broke. I have one.. and yes, it DOES keep my snake from frying, but I am constantly "tweeking" the heat setting in order to get the temperatures I want. I hope to upgrade soon.

Re: Thermostat...
You should get the "uranium pu-36 explosive space modulator" I have 3 and they are awesome!!

But seriously I have a ranco for a year now and it gets the job done for the money. Also be aware that it makes a ticking sound when it goes on and off. I trow a bunch of newspaper on top of it and it seems to mute the sound pretty good.
I want to get a proportional t-stat this year, probably a Herpstat ND.

Re: Thermostat...
Just an odd question, can the Herpstat control more than one UTH? I have 3 tubs running with an UTH and I'm looking to upgrade to a proportional like the Herpstat.

The Herpstat Pro can run up to four different heat sources independently. It is basically 4 separate thermostats contained in one unit. It seems like a steep price to pay, but when you compare it to the cost of buying four Brand X proportional thermostats, it's actually a good value. I love mine. I still use the Johnson for running the space heaters for the room...

If all the UTH are the exact same model and running at the same temp. All you need is a basic proportional t-stat. A pro it's alot of money. One t-stat can run a whole rack. I dont see why it cant run multiple UTHs of the same model. Just look at the wattage.
