    Claws on side of... cloaca....?

I understand that a male bp has two little "claws" one on eaither side of the cloaca. Do female bp's also have this? Or am i wrong about the whole thing?

    Thanks again,
    Bill

I'm guessing this is a joke because you have not one but five female BP's.

Re: Claws on side of... cloaca....?

ball pythons are sexually non dimorphic. This means that there is no way to tell males and females apart by just looking at them. The spurs on either side of the vent are vestigial remains of legs. Males of some snake species use them to court the female during breeding. Most of what we see on the spurs are actually layers of stuck sheds, so dont worry if your snake suddenly loses a spur. it will come back a little more with each shed.

    Hope that helped

The males spurs are slighty larger than the females and their tails are slighty longer and thinner. Females are short, stubby tails! Measuring from the vent to the end of tail. Only very experienced owners can tell this way but it is not a for usre way of sexing a ball because is just a slight difference. Popping and probing are the most accurate!!!
