I rescued a pair of tegus and had them for about 3 yrs. The male we put down after he started to succumb to bone cancer, and the female (who also had lost the tip of her tongue; don't know how) died from an impaction that we thought was going away.

Sorry to hear about the bite, but take your time with her (I have found female lizards to be more jumpy, nervous, and on edge more than males), establish trust and you'll have one sweetie.

Good luck with all your rescues.

From what I was told she's about a year and the girl had rescued her from a man that wasn't feeding her and was abusive to her. She's about two feet long probably and most 27 inches total she apporx three inches longer than the rescue sav. I have right now and I am really hoping both tame down so I can place them in exceptional homes as is my goal with any reptile that comes through my door
