Another question another thread lol
I run a rescue and well this is the first time a tegu has ever been brought in.
And I have never owned one so upon looking things up prior to her getting her here I just have one question....What is the best diet for her?

Re: Another question another thread lol
missing tip of tongue? that sux!! as mentioned before, try tegu talk and/or the tegu
as for diet
for starters-- raw ground turkey, cooked egg,raw egg in a separate container, rats depending on size of tegu. also argentines like fruits but NO citrus fruits. try instead berries(blue, straw etc.)
maybe banana, but only once every 2wks. you can also try greens as well. also try mixing all this together and see if he/she likes it that way.
( add a little cod liver oil in raw ground turkey. its good for many reasons)
but to to above mentioned sites. good info
peace

Re: Another question another thread lol
Hi again.
How old/big is she? That will help determine the frequency of feeding and how much.
I rescued a pair of tegus and had them for about 3 yrs. The male we put down after he started to succumb to bone cancer, and the female (who also had lost the tip of her tongue; don't know how) died from an impaction that we thought was going away.
Sorry to hear about the bite, but take your time with her (I have found female lizards to be more jumpy, nervous, and on edge more than males), establish trust and you'll have one sweetie.
Good luck with all your rescues.
Chris

From what I was told she's about a year and the girl had rescued her from a man that wasn't feeding her and was abusive to her. She's about two feet long probably and most 27 inches total she apporx three inches longer than the rescue sav. I have right now and I am really hoping both tame down so I can place them in exceptional homes as is my goal with any reptile that comes through my door
