Sore on Mouse
I picked up a feeder mouse and I got home and looked at it to feed to my Snake and it has a sore looking mark on it. More like a scar than anything else. Here is the pic:
PS it came from a pet store. Also it looks to be newly healed. Hard to the touch.

Idk it takes like 30 min to get to the pet store and I was wondering if I would just feed it to my snake? From my knowledge of parasites idk any that cause a sore like this.

Re: Sore on Mouse
Chances are it is..
A) A bite from another mouse.
B) A cancer tumor which is common on some mice.
C) A viral tumor. Also common on certain rodents.
Either way. It can be fed to the snake. Those of us that breed rodents for our snakes will feed off the ones that become injured, old, or get tumors on them. To keep the colonies healthy. It has never been shown to be harmful to feed a snake one of these rodents.

Re: Sore on Mouse
If it was a bite, then that is obviously not harmful to your snake.
If it happens to be a virus or a disease it is most likely not something that could be transmitted to your snake.

Mice fight and bite each other, esp the males. Bite marks are common.
So's other stuff. This past week I bought 4 live hoppers. Got home, opened the little bag and found one of them didn't have a tail! Had a dot on his butt where his tail was supposed to be. Snake didn't care, ate it fine.
