sperm plugs
Hey I'm currently attemting to breed my 09 spider from late july he is well over 500 grams and has been locking since the first time I put him in with my girl and always does numerous of times but I don't know how to check for sperm plugs (popping) and I was wondering if the plugs come out with the shed or not because my girl is full of follicles and don't want to waist this oppertunity so any info would be really great.

Re: sperm plugs
Supposedly you can see them when you pop (which I also can't do yet), and occasionally they're found floating in the water. I've never seen a sperm plug that I'm aware of, and have one boy who's consistently locking - so I assume he's emitting something!

Re: sperm plugs
If he's locking, odds are he's producing sperm!

Re: sperm plugs
You really don't have to "fully pop" the male most of the time. Usually takes less pressure to excrete sperm than actually extract the pene. It may not work with 100% of males, but I get plugs from all of my 500-ish gram males to put in my females enclosures so my 900+ gram males will be more apt to copulate.
