Fresh Fruit For Cresties, Are these's ok?
I'm not sure if my Harley is eating the CGD so I wanted to know if I could give her/him fresh fruit such as, blue berrys, black berrys and raspberrys.. is this ok to give to them. If so should I mash them up some to make a paste? Thanks in advance.
Cheers

I would stay away from blackberries and raspberries because they are very seedy. Cresteds like peaches, watermelons, mangoes, strawberries, figs, and bananas. Don't give any citrus fruits as cresteds can't handle the high amount of citric acid they contain.
You still need to get your crested on the CGD so he gets all of the nutrition he needs, but a fresh fruit treat is good for them. You can also mix the cgd in with the fresh fruit (and water if needed for consitency) as a treat or to help get him eating the CGD.

If u dont think it is eating much my suggestion is hand feeding it with a toothpick and watching how much it eats. what size is your crestie?
I would try to stick to CGD. are u puting yours in the fridge. freshness can be a factor aswell.

Yes, keep the CGD in the fridge to keep it nice and fresh. If your crestie is pooping then you know it is eating, even if you don't see it eating. If it was not eating it would start losing weight fairly quickly. Not eating is one of the main concerns of new crested owners because smaller geckos don't eat that much so it can be hard to tell if there is any food missing from the dish.
As mentioned, hand feeding can help--I just dab a bit on my finger and touch it to the nose of any little ones that I feel the need to assist. When they start licking I hold up my finger with more food on it and let them lick it off. Sometimes it takes several tries for them to get it and not freak out when you touch their nose, but usually they figure it out pretty quickly.

with any fruits I am hesitant to say yes or no only due to you never know what may be on them and I would only use it if I asked someone like Anthony about it.

The fruits I listed above have been generally accepted as safe for and palatable by crested geckos for years. As with any fruit or vegetable you will want to wash them first to remove anything that might be "on" them.

Emily gave a great response she breeds Cresties and she knows what she is talking about too
When it comes to my cresties I offer Bananas and Cantaloupe from time to time, seems to be their favorite.
