eco earth

I always bought eco earth when I had my other ball pythons.

im using it now again and it seems to be getting in my BPs mouth a lot, like along the top lip. also, Im worried is it too dusty? i spray it down to keep it slightly damp but im worried about her getting a RTI bc I have heard people talking about there bedding being too dusty.

the eco earth never gave me this problem before, I buy the bricks then expand it myself.

any help?

I personally hate eco earth because it is basically dirt and I don't like the idea of cleaning dirt.. Just doesn't make sense to me

There are other substrate options. Aspen and cypress mulch are good choices.

This wouldn't be very good, it can cause impaction if swallowed. I would suggest using cypress mulch which is a bit less loose than Eco Earth, or you can use aspen bedding or newspaper/paper towels. All of those work fine. I only use cypress for my Bloods, and use aspen for the Ball pythons.

well would it be ok if I used this up? I bought 3 bricks of it! think I could mix it with bedding to help until i use it all?

You could mix it with something else sure. Grab a bag of small animal aspen (cheaper than "snake aspen") and experiment with it to see what works best for you.

Misting once or twice a day is fine as long as the substrate has time to dry out and doesn't stay continuously wet.

If it is allowed time to dry out then no, it shouldn't mold. It takes more than a day or two of wetness for aspen to grow mold. I have only witnessed it happen after weeks of wetness.
