Question on heating multiple cages

I am wondering about the proper way to heat a stack of cages, like boaphile type cages.

If you put heat tape/heat mats on the bottoms of the cages, and then stack the cages, won't the cages get too hot? They'll be getting heat from top and bottom then wouldn't they?

Like if I have two PVCX cages and put one on top of the other, won't the bottom cage get too hot from the heat at the bottom and then heat from the bottom of the one on top?

I saw that, but I figured there would be different options with this type of caging than with tubs. I'm interested to hear the answers. I'm so new at this I want to do everything right!

No one uses boaphile type cages?

I think a lot of people who use boaphile cages use radiant heat panels. I have a heat pad on my boaphile but I don't have another stacked on top of it so I can't really offer my experience.

I am currently setting up some tubs. What I will do is once I get them stabilized, Sunday morning when I get off work, I will stack them on top of each other and see what kind of results I get and post them. For now, I am thinking that if all of the UTH's are on the same end, and each one is on it's own t-stat then each heater will shut-off once it reaches the desired temp, whether the heat is coming from itself or below. But I will try and find out...

As far as the caging is concerned, you can always call or e-mail the manufacturer and ask them, but I dont think it will be much of a problem, as long as each cage has proper ventilation...

you could always put a piece of 1" foam in between the cages if it becomes a problem.
