Odd setup for a python?

I think so many ppl have covered so much HOWEVER....my HUGE concern is the wood floor. It is a bacteria haven unless it is polyeutothened (I totally spelled that wrong)...ok basically sealed really really well.

Hi All!

Just a note to express my thanks and gratitude to you all for your invaluable advice and guidance! I do believe with your help I've finally cracked it!!

Have now made quite a few basic (but essential) changes based on everybody's comments. These include.....

(1) Cage type bulb guard purchased and fitted on red heat lamp.
(2) White 'repti-Glo' tube light removed altogether (saves worrying about him breaking it while climbing on it!)
(3) T-stat removed from red bulb - now hooked up to heatmat instead.
(4) Purchased dimmer and attached to red bulb - now on constantly but at a lower temp.
(5) Multi-function digital thermometer/hygrometer purchased and set up (and yes, those dial ones ARE very inaccurate!)

I'm still tweaking the temperatures slightly but they're almost stable now with the heatmat running at 32c and the cool end at 26c

Oh - and the humidity is now much better in the high 50s, so I'm hoping he'll have a better shed next time round!

I'll give him a couple of days to adjust but I'm sure in the long term this will be better for him all round. And I have a little more peace of mind !

Awesome! Glad you've gotten it at least mostly straightened out. Sometimes you'll need to keep tweaking a little bit to get everything just right, but I've found once I get it there, things are very easy to maintain after that.

It is always nice when someone new joins our forum who obviously cares so much about taking proper care of their BPs! Good job!
