The odds
Just wondering how you breeders fair against the odds. Like have you beaten odds like 1n8 or 1n16? How has your experiences been with the odds???
Breeding can be funny I'm sure. I have yet to breed, and I have bad luck so I'm sure when the time comes for me it wont work the way I want. I read someone really creamed the odds and I'm sure it's rare but it can happen. Please feel free to explain some experiences you have had with striking out or hitting a homerun.

Re: The odds
There can be some real crazy odds too. Somewhere on here someone put that just a quad recesive is 1/256 odd to get it from a quad rec. to quad rec. Its what makes breeding all that more cool.

We have Triple Het Caramel Ghost Genetic Stripes, as soon as they are big enough to breed it is a 1 in 64. Wish us Luck!

Re: The odds
I was once dealt a royal flush in clubs.
When I compare how many hands of poker I play to how many eggs some of the bigger producers put out every year, it doesn't surprise me with some of the crazy things that some people get lucky with.

Re: The odds
Yeah i expect the big wigs to hit odds every once in awhile. It's the smaller guys on the forum I am wondering about. Like if the odds are 1n8 and you hit 2 out a 6 egg clutch or completely strike out.
I know what I want to produce and I have bad luck but I only have a 1n4 odd to get it. Hopefully breeding 2 females I will get a 1.1 pair lol..
Make sure the girls are big and hope for a large clutch..What are your avg clutch sizes and how big are the girls??
Been thinking if it would be worth it to wait til say the 3rd winter if she is big enough on the second.

Re: The odds
Interesting question.
Last year we did quite well on co-doms, 60% of eggs from a co-dom turned out to be co-dom rather than normal. We *just* beat the odds last year.
Our avgerage clutch size was 5, with age being more important than weight.

Re: The odds
I have beaten the odd last season with a 1/4, Het Pied to Het Pied - 8 good eggs - 4 Pieds 4 Poss Hets ---> Not too bad

Ah so you got my friends pieds. Greath clutch.
3 seasons of het x het breedings and zero pieds! They absolutely are 100% hets too.
Swings and round-a-bouts that's how it goes!

Wow Deb you showed the odds who's boss. 4 pieds out of hetxhet is amazing. You should of gotten 2 but you got 4, wow.

Re: The odds
Two years ago I bred a spider to a normal, got 11 eggs and out of that got 8 spiders and 3 normals.
I bred a Pastel to a pastel, got 6 eggs and 3 pastels 1 normal 2 supers..
Pretty good odds there
