    UTH question

I got the heat wave dessert heat pad for a 10 gallon tank and it does not seem to heat up how long does it take?

2.can i leave the white paper on the UTH so i can move it around rather than having it stick to the bottom?

    1) It shouldnt take over 30 minutes to start warming up, maybe you got a defective one.

    2) You shouldnt leave it on, but you could probably put on aluminum duct tape on it after you take the white paper off and you might be able to move it around then. (i dont see any reason why you would need to move it?)

    1) It should just a minute or two to start feeling warm!
    2) You can leave the paper on and use foil tape to stick on to the tank! That way you can move to another tank in the future if need be!

    Re: UTH question

I had a heater that I thought was broken. I plugged it in and it never warmed up. Turns out that it just lost heat quickly. I put it under the tank and put a layer of cardboard and then styrofoam to make sure that the heat was not being lost to the dresser it is on. I waited several hours before I checked the temperature age and it has not given me problems since.

Most say to have air under them so they dont over heat or something like that. Thats why they come with the rubber feet to lift up aquariums.

    thats a thermometer/hydrometer.

Thermostat/ rheostat is to control the amount of electricity to the heat pad so it doesnt get as hot. They can get over 120ºF un-regulated.
