    Question Feeding issue

Today was feeding day for my RTB and in went her live rat as normal. She struck at it with a miss, regrouped for a second strike and got the rat on the face but didn't have the rat good enough. The rat broke free with a bleeding nose. The snake the began flexing it's mouth trying to expel a broken fang. Has this happened to any of y'all, do I need to take her to a vet?

Never happened to me, but I get all my boas onto f/t before they are eating rats/mice that have their eyes open. I'm not a big fan of live feedings...too many chances for injuries in my opinion. If she has a busted tooth, then it can get infected. I'd keep it rinsed out and keep an eye on it. If it starts to get swollen looking...we'll go from there.

well if the boa broke a tooth as only Venomous Snakes have "Vangs" then they are suppose to grow them back as they only really use teeth to hang on to the prey and not kill it primary. You can solve your problem by killing the rat in the future before feeding. But its up to you if you want to take her to your vet, I don't see anything they would be able to do for it though.

I agree. And it's definitely time to start feeding p/k or f/t, IMO. It's less stress for you, and safer for you snakes.
