how far does a can of P.A.M go?
well i just noticed my very first mite!!!! After a little research i'll be going with prevent a mite for the treatment. I only noticed a few mites on my male albino het jolliff axanthic so i'm guessing they are on all my fm's in his group. And go even farther to figure i prob. should go ahead and treat all my snakes in the snake room. Problem is i have going on 80 snakes So my question is how far does a can of prevent a mite go? and more than likely i'm going to be using this stuff from time to time in the future now as a preventative measure so a little extra is no biggie but i just don't want to not order enough, and find out the hard way it doesn't go as far as i thought and have some snakes that don't get treated in the first go around. I've never had mites and i want them gone!
Also i was about to order from the www.pro-products.com website and was wondering if anybody has ever used the bioshield cleaning product? it says one spray and you let it dry and it prevents mold, mildew, bacteria, fungus, and yeast for at least 90 days! And is usda approved for food contact surfaces. Just curious because if you buy a bottle you get the pam for half off so if i wanted to try it now is a good time thanks

PAM goes a long way. for 80 snakes i would prolly get 4 or 5 cans. follow instruction carefully, and treat a second time. for ur second question, i have no idea, im waiting on a response too.

If you are going to continue to use it as preventative and can afford to, I recommend buying by the case. It will save you a couple dollars per can that way.

sweet, do they offer it by the case at pro-products? if not where could i buy it in bulk. (seems to be the trend with everything when you have this many snakes ) but saving a few $'s buying something you'll need in bulk is always good thanks

Re: how far does a can of P.A.M go?
I have 50 snakes, and I use it whenever I bring in new animals, regardless of where they come from. Not only pre-treating the Quarantined animal's tub, but preventatively treating the rest of the collection at the same time (you never know when you might still get a hitchhiker that you carry on you, despite your best efforts with a new arrival).
A can lasts me well over a year - it's a very small amount that you have to spray to treat a tub. However, I've been using it a lot lately, because these darn ANTS keep coming into my apartment (just in the bathroom) every time it gets below freezing. They don't make it very far though, I tend to get up each morning to a bunch of dead ants.
But, it's my personal belief, that every snake keeper needs to have a can of Provent A Mite always available to them as part of their husbandry supplies. I've never had a mite infestation, and I'll never be without a can of P.A.M.

so one can lasts you about a year treating all of your animals more than once? I will definately be using this stuff as a preventitive measure from now on. I don't ever want this to happen again thanks...

I agree, keep a can on hand. Treat all of your quarantine bins. It only takes a very quick light spray to do the job. You want to have a can in stock BEFORE you see a mite.
Just remember, it kills insects, so don't use it around bug colonies or in insectivore cages.

the crazy thing is the mites are on some of the first snakes i ever got!! but i had just turned my garage into my snake room and have racks in the house for new snakes. But the albino's have a rack completely to themselves and everything!! But i didn't get enough feeders a few weeks ago and picked some rodents up at a small reptile shop up the road. So i'm either thinking they hitchhiked on a feeder (my albino male turns his nose up at f/t still! but it's a work in progress!!!) or i'm wondering if it's possible they got into the garage from under the house or outside? either way it's opened my eyes to taking preventative measures from hear on out!!! I've checked all the new arrivals in the house and no mites? (that i see anyways) so i'm kinda stumped as to where they came from

If the feeders were offered to a snake that refused with mites at the pet store, and then sold to you - they could have come that way, or you could have picked up mites on your clothing at the pet store.
