I think my comp has a virus, anyone know anything about computers?

Ok, sooo about an hour ago my computer was FINE! Now everytime I go to open an application it wont let me it says its infected. Even Itunes!! I click on an application (such as itunes) and it wont let me open it.

"Application cannot be executed. The file itunes.exe is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?"

Welll I dont have an antivirus software. I keep clicking no but it pops up all the time. Its all opened by a program called Antivirus Soft. I have no idea where it came from or how it got on my computer. Is there anyway to back up my itunes and pictures and stuff and just reset my computer???? Or anything?
Anything free that I could do Id greatly appreciate anyones help.

SUPERAntiSpyware works great! I have it, but don't use it as often as I should. It's free. You can pay for a better version, but the free one is fine.

Re: I think my comp has a virus, anyone know anything about computers?

Malware bytes and Spybot search & destroy are 2 more really good free detection and removal programs.

The thing that keeps popping up actually sounds like ITS the virus. Thats what alot of them do to get you to think your clicking on something that will help you but instead you just allowed it to put a bunch of spyware, trojans, malware and whatever else it might have been.

Get at least one of the free programs we have told you of here. Run a couple scans and see what it says.

What you really dont want are keyloggers. That can actually record your every key punch. This is how alot of them get your passwords etc..

Need to reboot the computer into safe mode and scan all programs you have to rid the virus. once you have scanned them all reboot back in normal mode. If the virus stopped you should be in ther clear. If not then repeat in safe mode

to get into safe mode reboot and hit F8 right as its booting up.

Stupid malware...happened to my pc not too long ago...it's a bogus "virus" that you pay the company who is asking you to buy their antivirus software from to "remove." What I did was just restart my computer in safe-mode then restored the hard drive to a previous date (system restore). That did the trick...I've since bought a Mac...

ps. Antivirus Soft was the exact same malware that "infected" my computer! It's a nasty one...won't let you open anything from your normal screen hence the need to restart in safe mode!

Get yourself a good free anti-virus program such as Avast.

    http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-...-10019223.html

After you download it let it run a full system scan and it will tell you what virus's have infected your computer.

    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware FTW!

I had a trojan on my computer a few weeks ago that changed my proxy settings to the internet and I couldn't access the web, or any thing on my computer and had to start it in safe mode to be able to do anything.
After a while it started opening up IE windows with less than child friendly material on them. Malwarebytes took care of the problem really quick and simple.

    What I did was:
    1. Start computer up in Safe Mode (press the F8 key when Windows starts to boot)
    2. Open IE and go to Internet Options ( Under tools)
    3. Change proxy settings (Dont remember which, but I think you have to look in the LAN settings, looking at mine right now, none of the boxes are checked/selected)
    4. Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebyte...-10896905.html)
    5. Run Malwarebytes, quick scan first, then restart computer and run a complete scan. (Quick took me like 5 minutes, complete is over an hour)

If you can get on the web(assuming you can since you posted here, skip step 2 and 3. But do open IE so you can download
I think thats what I did. It was something close to that atleast.

Goodluck getting your computer working right again.
