time to look around the house... depending on how big he/she is
its easy to make a hobo cage out of a rubbermaid... if u have a human heating pad use that under it.. it will not melt the plastic.. ide line the the rubbermaid cage with paper towel since this will allow max heat flow from the uth to the snake..
but i am very new and owning one myself but it cant get much worse then not having any heat or a cage... so i think my idea would work fine
before u put the snake in the cage if u have a digi thermometer with a wire probe sitck it under the snakes hide in the rubbermaid cage and see what the temp is.. if its to hot turn the heating pad down.. to cold turn the pad up... should do just fine since the pads dont get that hot.. well mine doesnt anyways
you could probs also make a cardboard box cage ... << dunno how that would work lol

also how bad is it broke? mine currently has a stress crack all the way across.. silacone will fix this easy.. i just went cheap and bought the 3 dollar stuff.. shoulda went with the 9 dollar one.. lol
also if u have a small dog cage that is bars all the way around or atleast in the front u can line it/cover it with tinfoil <did this with my skink and a ferret cage works greats keeps humidity in and heat just make sure the shiny side is pointing inwards if ur using heat emitters or lights

Surely you're not suggesting a cage with bars for a snake?

Re: Under The Tank Broke wat now?
Are you saying that your Undertank heater broke (UTH)? Not the tank itself, correct?
Why can't you get anything to keep your snake warm for a week?

yes and no lol you would tape tinfoil on the bars.. dunno if the snake would be smart or strong enough to break through.. it is easy but not that easy.. if you worried about it tape cardboard behind the tinfoil should make an ok cage for a week

Re: Under The Tank Broke wat now?
If I'm reading your question correctly, you need to heat the enclosure due to a defective under the tank heater? If that's the case, then as said earlier, you can use a heating pad. If you have a few bucks to spend, then go out and buy a few 70 hour heat packs.
One other bit of advise I'd like to offer. If you're on a tight budget while owning a reptile, try to put a few dollars away when you have it and use ONLY in the event of an emergency FOR THE REPTILE.
If you have a good relationship with a pet store (local mom and pop store not petsmart type store), maybe you could ask them to sell you a UTH on credit. Telling them you will give them the price of the UTH and an extra $5 next week.
You need to be able to take care of your reptiles. Having an emergency fund is required.
Good Luck!

same saved up 81.24 in a week spent 50 tonight on his actual uth and 2 new thermometers.. and another hide and 30 crickets for my moms gecko.. lol
but yeah if u dont mean the cage is broke then a heating pad works just as good

Re: Under The Tank Broke wat now?
yeah if the heating unit broke just use a heating pad ( i done this many time for rescues it works on medium heat) if the tanks cracked then you need a tank ( I have a couple but I think Delaware too far out of the way) I done very well using clear tape on the bottom of a tanks ( years ago) or if you have a piece of plexie around and some glue/silicone around use this to makea temp fix. I use the second option on the tanks that come wit hthat premade hole inthe bottom now to seal it off works great for rats and asf ( no under the cage hiding or glass chewers.)

No offense but I think that is probably the worst possible idea for temporary housing for a snake.
You can buy a plastic tub from the dollar store.
Anyway, I am pretty sure the OP is talking about the heater on the tank, not the tank itself although the post is a bit confusing.
