Question on AP racks and Balls

    Hello All,

I'm quite new to everything that has to do with snakes in general. I'm currently breeding Leopard geckos as well as other species of gecko. I currently use Animal Plastic Iris 375 racks. The containers we use for the leos are from the container store and they are the mens shoe box. Unfortunatly we don't really go by quart size for our tubs.

So now that you have a little back ground info my question is would a tub that measures 22 1/2 x 14 3/4 x 5 3/8 be large enough to contain an adult ball python? I'm interested in keeping 2 BP's (not housed together of course) for my own personal collection. I thought I would at least ask the experts prior to going out and purchasing any animals.

    Thanks in advance,

    Ryan

I think that is roughly the same size as a 28 qt tub, which should be big enough for most males for their whole life. Big females would probably do better with more room.

I would house adult females over 2000 grams in 41qt's

Ah thank you both for the replies. This brings another question to the table then. If i do decide to venture into the world of snakes on average what would be the growth rate of females and males? Sorry if i'm very ignorant. I would rather obtain as much information before making any decisions.

It honestly just depends on the snake and how much you feed it. There is no specific growth rate for males or females or ball pythons in general.

Some will grow very quickly, some might lag behind. Some may refuse food often, some might be garbage disposals.
