Flexwatt questions

I have my new rack finished and have the flexwatt setup according to the video on a link for the manufacturer. How long does it take to heat up? I can still touch it and its warm but maybe I just expected it to get warmer than it is. The snakes are notin the rack yet, and I have a thermostat for it but the flexwatts are currently plugged directly in the wall just to see how warm it gets.

If I touch it with a temp gun and plugged directly in the wall, what should I be expecting for a reading?

if its not plugged into a thermostat expect it to get past 120 degrees but it tells u to not let it exceed 115 degrees f. and it heats up very quickly if u have it wired right

How do you wire it wrong? It has 2 connections and it doesnt matter what side you clip the connections to. I guesse 100 plus doesnt seem as hot as I thought to the touch.

A bad enough fever will give you a body temp of 100+ F, so no it doesnt feel hot to the touch, since our bodies are already around 93. Now if look at it from the celcious poing of view, 100+ C is water boiling point, 0 C is water freezing point.

I still dont understand why the USA and other english speaking powers still not switch over to Metric and Celcious system, since they are much easier to use. But I guess habits are realy hard to change.

the crimps that come on the end of the wires if they dont punch thru that plastic and actually make contact can cause them not to work i recently found this out make sure your crimping or soldering properly.

Gotcha! No they are all warm. I guesse I just expected more. But I am just playing with it until my thermostat comes in Monday (hopefully).

Now I just need to work on maintaining alot higher humidity. I have read some of the other threads and will try some different things before I make the transition.

A while back I purchased a used homemade rack. When I got it home and tested it, one of the strips of flexwatt was not heating as fast as the others. It had been wired using the crimp clips and those plastic covers which are pretty bulky, so I decided to rewire it (or actually have my husband rewire it ). We cut off the clips, and soldered the connections. Once it was done, all of the strips of flexwatt are now heating evenly.

So, apparently, even if you are getting some heat, if you don't have a good connection, the flexwatt may not heat properly. Make sure your connections are good!
