    Baby retic tub

My girlfriend bought me a baby retic for my bday and i just want to make sure the setup i have it in is ok.

Its a 41qt rubbermaid locking lid, with wood stacked on top in the middle so she cant push out. Hotside is with UTH and heatlight sitting right around 90* coldside sits around 78-80*. Two identicly hides and a big water dish.

    Sound ok??

Now how big is this baby, first of all? And I assume you've done loads of research on them, correct?

Hot side seems ok but I'm curious as to how you have a heat light on a locking lid container? Cool side is ok.

yes ive done loads of research, and baby is 3 1/2'

i have the light suspended above the lid pointed over the hot side, it was the only way i could get the ambient air temps up above ~75* its a 40W red bulb that is on 24hours a day.

this isnt my first retic, my last one i got when she was pushing 5' and came with a better cage. Im saving for a nice one that i can move her into in time but for now a tub or 20G fishtank was all i could get her

Your setup sounds good for the most part. I don't like the whole light over the tub though.

You should get ready to buy her a 4'x2'x2' cage though. That should last a couple years, maybe. And she'll have plenty of room for a while. Give her plenty of stuff to climb on too.

my bday is the 20th, bday money is being saved for snake supplies cuz my carpets are going to be big enough soon to need cages of their own

one mroe thing, the light is there because i keep my windows cracked in my room to keep the smells down and im having a hard problem keep ambient air temps up.

what would you think would be a better alternative for it?

That tub will work for a bit, but you'll want to get a larger cage like AJ mentioned...3' minimum, 4' optimum for the short time and then look larger down the road...I have a G-stripe that is outgrowing her CB70 and will go in a 3x2x1 really soon...
