Talk to your RA, they will let you know what THEY will tolerate. My daughter is in a dorm right now and she has a leopard gecko. The RA said it won't be a problem if it doesn't get out or someone complains. I told my daughter, that anyone could drop a dime on her for any reason. She told me the RA would then allow her 24 hours to remove the gecko in the event someone complained.

BUT, this is up to the RA, she could turn on my daughter and bust her. I know, the first offense is the animal has to be removed and my daughter would be given a warning. So it's not that big of a deal for her. Other colleges could and probably are different.
